Thursday, October 24, 2019, Ox Industries celebrated 150 years of the Halltown Paperboard Mill with a private luncheon on the mill grounds. It was a picture-perfect West Virginia day. Past and present employees along with their families and local dignitaries were treated to a delicious smoked BBQ meal followed with Ox Industries custom cupcakes. Upon arrival attendees gathered for conversation, played a few rounds of corn hole with their fellow employees, and enjoyed the celebration.
There were awards of appreciation to longstanding current and retired employees and a dedication to all mill employees given by Kevin Hayward, CEO of Ox Industries. Allison and Jay Eyster from the original Eyster family who founded the mill in 1896 attended and presented Kevin Hayward with an original patent dated in the late 1800s for adding a liner to a paperboard sheet created by the original mill owners.
Kevin Hayward stated, “This day was about the employees and their dedication to this paperboard mill that has been in continuous operation since 1869. Its longevity is a testament to the hard-working people of the area and the spirit of America. We are happy to have been able to give them a break from their daily routine and show them our deep appreciation for the work that they do”.
