Process Engineer

Salary Range: $70,000.00 To 85,000.00 Annually

GENERAL PURPOSE OF POSITION:

The Process Engineer provides technical support and training to drive continuous improvement in the performance of all aspects of the paper mill operation including safety, quality assurance and customer service, productivity, environmental stewardship, operating efficiencies, and cost containment.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Promotion of a safe working environment including hazard recognition and mediation
  • Perform as a leader in technical support and training for plant processes to improve overall efficiency
  • Train employees in analytical problem solving and decision making techniques as applicable
  • Identify opportunities to improve existing procedures and workflow processes, including the DCS (Distributed Control System)
  • Management of the mill’s process control instrumentation
  • Understand and oversee quality assurance program, including Certificate of Analysis (COAs) documentation, customer complaint investigations, and quality improvement projects
  • Assist EHS Manager with environmental compliance, including permits and certifications
  • Facilitate the process by which projects and activities are identified, defined, developed and prioritized including capital requests
  • Support maintenance and electrical staff and relief coverage for Maintenance Superintendent
  • Participate in downtime maintenance and readiness planning and project management activities
  • Weekend coverage as required
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Pulp and Paper Science or other engineering discipline preferred
  • Process control knowledge in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in process, product or technology development
  • Ability to multitask and meet/supersede objectives
  • Effective communication skills both written and verbal
  • Team leadership abilities
  • Excellent computer skills to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Demonstrated track record of initiative, leadership and effectiveness
