Transportation Coordinator

Salary Range: $19.50 Hourly Onwards

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm

 

GENERAL-PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Responsible for all the necessary day-to-day functions involving transportation operations.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide freight quotes as requested
  • Set up all inbound and outbound loads and communicate with carriers on arrangements/changes
  • Calculate dimensions and weights of skids to research shipping rates to obtain the best shipping method (inbound and outbound)
  • Communicate with various departments to determine time of job completion
  • Complete paperwork for shipments
  • Monitor the Shipping calendar with Shipping Supervisor to combine loads when possible and communicate with Customer Service and various departments as needed.
  • Serve as liaison between customer service and carriers to resolve any potential issues

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High School diploma or GED preferred.  Less than high school education with up to one month of related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.  Ability to compute abstract information.
